Performance Partnership Grant Program Branch
Mission Statement
To administer the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Block Grant which
is annually made available to the single State authority (SSA) for prevention activities
and treatment services. The SSA is designated by the chief executive officer of each State.
To assist the SSA and its subrecipients in achieving full compliance with the statutory and
regulatory requirements of Title II, Subpart II of the Public Health Service Act.
To strengthen key components in publicly funded substance abuse treatment delivery systems,
promote linkages among other ancillary health and human services, and ensure that each
individual who requests and is in need of substance abuse treatment has reasonable access to
such systems and linkages.
To identify opportunities for improvement, coordinate targeted technical assistance, and promote
knowledge transfer among SSAs and their subrecipients.
